Phumzile ‘Kid Chocolate’ Matyhila has been tasked with the job of training South African minimumweight champion Mthokozisi Ngxaka as he is preparing for his title defence against Thinumzi Gqola.

Matyhila, a former SA bantamweight titlist, will train Ngxaka in the absence of Zolani ‘Last Born’ Tete, who’s travelling to Saudi Arabia together with Bekizizwe Maitse on Saturday. Maitse faces Iman Lee from the United States of America (USA) in the quarter-finals of the WBC Grand Prix in Riyadh.

“We have asked Matyhila to train Ngxaka while Zolani is away in Saudi Arabia. Zolani will only come back on Thursday next week,” Ngxaka’s manager Mlandeli Tengimfene revealed on Friday.

Mthatha-born Ngxaka faces Gqola from Duncan Village at the Portuguese Hall in Turffontein, Johannesburg, on Sunday, 17 August.

And Ngxaka will be making the first defence of the crown he captured after he stopped Thami Luthuli in the fourth round at the Orient Theatre in East London almost five months ago.
