Morena Ramoreboli has given credit to Bafana Bafana players after they beat Botswana 1-0 in their COSAFA Cup opener at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Swallows FC’s Kagiso Malinga scored the only goal of the match, which gave Bafana the three points.
“Credit to the boys. I think it was important for them to win this match,” Ramoreboli said.
“It was not easy. You know we never had smooth preparations, but I think they were willing to fight for the country. I think they did exactly that. I think coach Helman (Mkhalele) did a great job. It was easy for me to adapt to how he wanted us to play. Obviously, we had been doing things together. Everybody is happy in the camp. The boys are happy after such a great performance.”
Bafana face Eswatini in their second match of the tournament on Thursday. Isihlangu Semnikati will go to this match following a 3-1 win over Lesotho’s Likuena.
“I think we will grow within the tournament or I can say we have a chance of being better as the tournament goes,” Ramoreboli said.
