Suspended by Boxing South Africa (BSA) and continuing to fight as a Tanzanian licensee, Asemahle ‘The Predator’ Wellem has a date with Ghanaian opponent Emmanuel Martey on Wednesday.

Wellem will square up against Martey in a vacant World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa light-heavyweight bout at Viwanja vya Posta, Dar-Es-Salaam.

The former South African super-middleweight champion goes to Wednesday’s fight on the back of a stoppage win over Nigerian boxer Idowa Mustorpha Rasheed five months ago.

As he’s going to the Martey fight, Wellem from Chintsa in the Eastern Cape will be looking to improve his record of nine victories with five knockouts, two defeats and a draw.

On the other hand, Martey overcame his Ghanaian compatriot Collinson Kortey in July. The southpaw from Accra in Ghana has a professional record of 19 wins with 15 stoppages, a loss and a draw.
