Following his win over Lutho Gungutho in Mthatha last month, Eastern Cape flyweight champion Sinovuyo ‘Pink One’ Mthintelwa will return to action at the Guild Theatre in KuGompo City on Saturday, 4 April.
Trained by Thembani ‘Best’ Gopheni, Mthatha-born Mthintelwa will make the first defence of his provincial title when he exchanges blows with Siyamthanda Mbali from Mdantsane in a 10 rounds bout. Mbali will go to the Mthintelwa fight on the back of a split decision win over Yomeleze Sululu in Peddie last Sunday.
Mthintelwa has won all his five fights with four of those wins being stoppages. Mbali, on the other hand, has two wins with one knockout and a draw.
Mthintelwa’s fight against Mbali will form part of Kay B Promotions’ tournament, which is going to be headlined by a World Boxing Council (WBC) Youth junior-lightweight title contest between Lonwabo ‘Monster’ Sizani and Tanzanian boxer Ahmed Mangula.
Meanwhile, Qhamani Mhlana will fight for the first time since winning the Eastern Cape minimumweight title after he stopped Bonginkosi Solani in the sixth round in Ginsberg, Qonce, last December.
Mhlana is scheduled to defend his title in an all Mdantsane affair against Athenkosi Tunzi, who scored a points win over Azile Kwankwa in November last year.
Ayabulela Xatyana faces Uyanda Mtongana with Likho Sigaba coming up against Awonke Tini and Simamkele Singile trading blows with Abelo Tokwe. Inathi Moyiko’s clash with Masibulele Mbumba will complete the bill.
