There was a change at the top of the Betway Premiership standings after Orlando Pirates defeated Richards Bay FC 2-0 at the Orlando Amstel Arena in Soweto on Wednesday evening.

The Buccaneers returned to the top of the table after Oswin Appollis netted in the 27th minute following Kamogelo Sebelebele’s cross from the right and Evidence Makgopa scored from a spot kick after match referee Masixole Bambiso had awarded Pirates a dodgy penalty in added time.

Following Pirates’ win over the Natal Rich Boyz, Mamelodi Sundowns dropped to second place, having occupied the number one position for just 24 hours.
