The South African Football Association (SAFA) announced on Tuesday morning that Banyana Banyana will play two international friendly matches against their Japanese counterparts in three months’ time. 

The matches are going to form part of Banyana coach Desiree Ellis’ preparations for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which is going to be played in July and August this year.

The South African senior women’s national team will face the Japanese in the first match at Nagai Ballgame Field, Osaka, on Saturday, 6 June 2026. Three days later, the two teams will meet in the second match at J-Green Sakai in Osaka.

Meanwhile, SAFA also announced that Banyana will also play two international friendly matches next month, however, their opponents will be made known at a later stage.
