A search for Xolisani ‘Nomeva’ Ndongeni’s new opponent is underway after Sanele ‘Tornado’ Msimang pulled out of next week’s fight against the former world and South African champion.
An accident which resulted in Msimang’s hand and stomach getting burnt by boiled water is behind his withdrawal from the Ndongeni fight, which was scheduled for the Jan Smuts Stadium in KuGompo City on Saturday , 23 May. Msimang’s fight against Ndongeni was going to be the main bout of the Ground Up Boxing Promotions’ tournament.
“Msimang has pulled out of his fight against Ndongeni due to injuries. Msimang’s stomach and hand are injured as a result of boiled water. We are very disappointed with the latest developments,” Msimang’s promoter Sandile Vilakazi of Syathaba Boxing Promotions said.
Now that Msimang has withdrawn from the fight, the organisers are looking for a replacement as the 23rd of May is approaching for Ndongeni’s final dance inside the ring as he’s retiring from professional boxing. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
