Former South African junior-bantamweight champion, Siphosethu Mvula, will have to wait a little longer before he gets into action for the second time this year, following the postponement of his fight against Namibian boxer, Marthin de Porres Mbwangungu Mukungu.
Initially scheduled for Saturday, 17 October, in Rundu, Namibia, Mvula’s World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa featherweight title contest against Mukungu has now been postponed to Saturday, 21 November.
“We received a letter informing us about the postponement of the fight to the 21st of November. But we have not received a new contract for the fight yet,” Mvula’s manager, Andile ‘Black Buffalo’ Mshumpela, confirmed.
After being inactive for more than three years, Duncan Village-born Mvula came back and stopped Bandile Daniels in the fifth round in Mdantsane four months ago.
Meanwhile, Mvula is going to fight in the same tournament as unbeaten former International Boxing Federation (IBF) Youth featherweight champion Ishmaeel ‘King K’ Kadri, who will challenge Namibian boxer, Mateus Heita, in a WBO Africa featherweight title contest. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
