Stellenbosch FC defender Zitha Macheke has changed his surname to Kwinika.
The former South African national Under-23 defender said that he changed to Kwinika, his father’s surname, so that he can continue with his legacy.
“It’s high time I changed my last name from Macheke to Kwinika. It’s my dad’s last name. I’m taking responsibility for the family name and making sure the legacy continues,” the 27-year-old defender said.
Kwinika, a former Bidvest Wits, Thanda Royal Zulu, Chippa United and Kaizer Chiefs player, is expected to play a key role when Stellies face Orlando Pirates in their 2021/22 season opener at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Saturday (15h00).
