New Chippa United recruit Anthony Laffor is determined to work very hard and make sure that the Port Elizabeth club move away from the relegation zone.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns striker joined the Chilli Boys, who are 15th on the DStv Premiership table, together with Ayabulela Konqobe on Friday.
And both players are available for selection when the Chilli Boys face TS Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium, Nelspruit, on Saturday (15h30).
Laffor was released by Sundowns earlier this season after serving the Brazilians with distinction winning many trophies including the CAF Champions League in 2016.
According to Laffor, Chilli Boys coach Daniel ‘Dance’ Malesela played a crucial role in ensuring that the Liberian joined the Eastern Cape side.
‘‘I would like to say a very big thank you to the coach, president Chippa (Mpengesi) for giving me this opportunity. It wasn’t a difficult decision for me to join the team. After speaking to the coach and president Chippa I knew that this is where I want to be,’’ the former SuperSport United and Jomo Cosmos striker said.
‘‘Chippa is the best place for me to be. I think I will fit in very well, the guys are friendly here. I just need to let the coaches make decisions. For me I’m here to work for my place and happy to be part of the team. I’m going to do everything possible to help the team.’’
A fit Laffor might be a very good catch for the Chilli Boys in their quest to move up the Premiership ladder. Monrovia-born Laffor, who turns 36 on 17 February, will be with the Chilli Boys until the end of the current season.
