Mamelodi Sundowns have dismissed allegations that they were the beneficiaries of a fixed match during the 1998/99 season.

Former SuperSport United, Mthatha Bucks and Vaal Professionals midfielder Peter Khoabane alleged in a video that they were paid to throw a match against Sundowns while he was playing for the Vaal Monsters.

In a statement released on Friday, Sundowns said: “The board and management of Mamelodi Sundowns strongly reject the 1999 match fixing allegations made by Mr Peter Khoabane.”

The alleged match-fixing took place four years before Patrice Motsepe bought the Brazilians from the Krok and Tsichlas families.

The statement further said that the Brazilians have always adhered to FIFA, CAF and SAFA rules and regulations.

“We view the allegation in a very serious light and we are investigating the matter and will also seek legal advice,” the statement added.
