Teboho Mokoena is happy to have played a very important role during Bafana Bafana’s 1-0 win over Zimbabwe in their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Johannesburg on Thursday evening.

Mokoena headed in from Keagan Dolly’s beautiful cross to take Bafana Bafana closer to the final round of World Cup qualifiers.

“Obviously, I’m very happy for the result. I’m not satisfied with the scoreline, but we take the win going to the Ghana game. We have to be positive going to Sunday’s clash and I hope we will give our best and come back with a result,” the SuperSport United midfielder said.

On scoring the winning goal, the 24-year-old Olympian from Bethlehem, who walked away with the man-of-the-match award, said: “When I scored the goal I was full of emotions and happy.”

Meanwhile, Mokoena concurred with Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos that they didn’t do well during the game despite winning it.

“I think we could have done better. Our pressing was not the way it used to be. We didn’t press as a team. We did it individually. But I think we can do better on Sunday,” Mokoena said.

Bafana Bafana leave for Ghana on Friday morning to prepare for Sunday’s match in Cape Coast. The match is going to start at 21h00.
