Swallows FC coach Brandon Truter is elated after he beat Orlando Pirates mentor Josef Zinnbauer and his Baroka FC counterpart Thoka Matsimela to take home the DStv Premiership Coach of the Month award for October and November.

The former Richards Bay FC coach from Mitchell’s Plain in Cape Town led Swallows to 11 points after winning three matches and drawing twice between October and November, which resulted in him getting the nod from the judges.

The unbeaten Dube Birds are second on the DStv Premiership standings with 12 points from six matches.

”Obviously, I’m a bit surprised and elated as well. I’m very happy and I dedicate this award to the staff members and the players. Without them this award wouldn’t be possible. The support from management has been tremendous,” Truter, who guided Swallows to automatic promotion to the Premier Division at the end of last season, said.

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns attacking midfielder Themba Zwane walked away with the October/November Player of the Month award after scoring five times in the same number of matches. Zwane’s goals include a hattrick against AmaZulu and he has so far scored six times in six matches.

Tembisa-born Zwane beat his teammate Peter Shalulile and Swallows’ Njabulo Ngcobo to win the award.

Zwane has said that he is happy with the understanding he has with Shalulile and Kermit Erasmus, who were signed from Highlands Park and Cape Town City respectively.

”These two work very hard. What makes me more happy is that we understand each other,” said the 2019/20 Footballer of the Season.

Both Truter and Zwane, who pocketed R7000 each, are the first recipients of the monthly awards since DStv took over as premium sponsor of the Premier Division.
