Anthony Malosiane avenged his 2019 loss to Romeo Makwakwa when he stopped the Malawian during their fight in Maokeng, Kroonstad, on Saturday evening.
Maloisane lost to Makwakwa by a stoppage in July 2019, but he made sure that the Malawian paid for what he did as he stopped him in the first round to win the African Boxing Union (ABU) SADC junior-lightweight belt.
Initially, Maloisane was earmarked to face Koos Sibiya, but the strap between the two had to be cancelled due to COVID-19. And Makwakwa was then signed as a replacement to face Maloisane.
This tournament, which was promoted by Lebo Mahoko’s Dream Team Promotions, was characterised by stoppages as six out of nine of the bouts ended in the short distance.
Meanwhile, Tian Fick made the Western Cape proud when he outpointed Joshua Pretorius from Richards Bay in a fight held at the Vibrant Sports Studio in Cape Town on Friday night.
Two judges scored the fight 118-110 in favour of Fick and the third one gave the Capetonian a 119-109 win.
