Boxing trainer Kholisile ‘KC’ Cengani says he harbours no ill feelings towards Khanyile Bulana, who is going to challenge current
International Boxing Organisation (IBO junior-lightweight champion Michael Magnesi in March.

Bulana got the opportunity to challenge Magnesi after Azinga Fuzile turned down an offer to fight against the Italian because he is eyeing an International Boxing Federation (IBF) elimination bout against Japanese boxer Kenichi Ogawa later this year.

‘‘You will never know with these boys. He was training with me until the Christmas break. He sent an SMS informing me that Colin (Nathan) had called telling him about a fight in Italy,’’ East London-based Cengani said.

‘‘There was nothing I could say or do because Bulana and I do not have a contract. I told him that it’s fine he can go fight, no hard feelings from my side.’’

Cengani, who is assisted by former SA flyweight champion Xola Sifama at his gym, has added that Bulana is welcome at his stable any time.

‘‘I was doing everything, managing and training him. I wish him all the best in the fight. He is still my boy. I know that desperation sometimes forces people to take decisions like these,’’ Cengani said.

Bulana is now preparing for the Magnesi fight under Nathan’s watchful eye at Hot Box Gym in Johannesburg.
