East London boxer Yanga ‘Showtime’ Sigqibo is going to realise his dream of fighting for a world title when he challenges Frenchman Nordine Oubaali in France on Saturday, 13 March.

The unbeaten Oubaali, who is of Moroccan descent, has been a World Boxing Council (WBC) bantamweight champion since 2019.

Sigqibo is one of South African boxing’s consistent performers and has not lost in more than five years. His first and last loss was against Ayanda Ndulani in October 2015.

Spokes Witbooi-trained Sigqibo stopped Filipino boxer Cris Paulino in the seventh round in his last fight, which was a World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Intercontinental junior-bantamweight title contest, at the Orient Theatre in East London in March 2020.

Sigqibo, who is promoted by Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP), has also had the South African and WBC junior-bantamweight belts strapped around his waist.
