Brandon Truter is not worried about the three straight draws his team Swallows FC have played.
Instead, the Swallows coach looks at which teams drew with the Birds. Swallows have played 1-1 draws with Chippa United, Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United.
“You have to look at where the draws are. A draw away to Sundowns, a draw away to SuperSport, so it’s tough teams. It’s teams that have done this and that. Getting a draw against teams like those is gold. Definitely, the amount of games we played in January it’s gonna take its toll on the team. We played about six matches during a four-week period. I think we are doing alright. With the draws I would be worried if we were not creating chances,” Truter said following his team’s 1-1 draw with Matsatsantsa a Pitori at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Saturday evening.
The Dube Birds came from behind and snatched a draw against Matsatsantsa. Joseph Mhlongo equalised after Matsatsantsa had taken an early lead through Lucky Mohomi.
“It was a tough, tough game. You know what SuperSport is gonna do, they are so powerful in what they do,” Truter said.
Matsatsantsa coach Kaitano Tembo, meanwhile, reckons that they let Swallows off the hook.
“Look, we had a very good start. We scored a good goal early on. I think that goal should have paved a way in terms of settling the nerves and play our normal game. I think after that we started losing the ball, we lost possession cheaply. We also dropped a lit bit deeper. That allowed them to play,” Tembo said.
