Zolani ‘Last Born’ Tete is going to return to action in April and will move up from bantamweight to the junior-featherweight division following the advice of his handlers because he has not fought in more than a year.
Tete, a former International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-bantamweight and World Boxing Organisation (WBO) bantamweight champion, has not fought since he was dethroned by Filipino boxer Johnriel Casimero in November 2019.
The talented southpaw is going to fight against a soon-to-be named opponent in England.
“The opponent is still unknown, but we are moving up to junior-featherweight now. It is just my consideration that he has not fought in a long time,” Tete’s manager Mlandeli Tengimfene said.
Mdantsane-born Tete is going to celebrate his 33rd birthday on 8 March.
