Daniel ‘Dance’ Malesela is unhappy despite his team Chippa United reaching the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup.
The Chilli Boys beat Free State Stars 4-3 on penalties after they had drawn 2-2 in two hours.
Chilli Boys coach Malesela believes that the match shouldn’t have gone beyond regulation time.
“We put ourselves in a tight corner where we shouldn’t have been. We were left with one minute for the match to end, and then conceded a goal after scoring such a good goal. It’s not okay. And then we were 2-1 down in extra time,” Malesela said.
“One is appreciative that when a team can come back and say let’s see if we can salvage a goal and see what happens. You get to appreciate the effort the players are making and you don’t want to spoil anything. We don’t want to be selfish, we appreciate that they came back and eventually won on penalties.”
Ea Lla Koto coach Allan Freese, meanwhile, is satisfied with how his boys played.
“I’m very happy about the young boys that played. We had a game plan, we went through to the 90 minutes doing the right things,” Freese said.
