John Maduka knew what SuperSport United were going to offer before they even kicked the first ball against his team Bloemfontein Celtic on Tuesday.
And the Celtic coach has said that Matsatsantsa a Pitori did exactly as he expected them during Phunya Sele Sele’s 2-1 win at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium in Mangaung.
Reagan van der Ross and Motebang Sera scored for Celtic with Lucky Mohomi scoring for Matsatsantsa.
“I think we played well. I think we started very well. We knew SuperSport would come at us. We were ready for that,” Maduka said.
“What we did was to take the game to them. At the same time we tried to defend well, that’s one area we have been lacking.
“I think we did reach the final third in the first half. Unfortunately, our decision making was not up to standard. Second half we continued to create chances, at the same time keeping balance at the back. We defended so well. After scoring the goal we knew they would come, they did exactly that. We managed to score the second goal and got the three points.”
Next up for Celtic is a home game against Chippa United on Saturday afternoon. This match was called off due to torrential rains in Bloemfontein two weeks ago.
