Christian ‘The Bomb’ Araneta and his trainer Julius Erving Junco from the Philippines are not leaving anything to chance in their preparations for Araneta’s fight against Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga.
Araneta is going to face the unbeaten Nontshinga in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight elimination bout in East London on Sunday, 25 April.
Junco has been putting Araneta through his paces at Omega Boxing Gym since January as they understand the importance of the Nontshinga fight.
“We learned a lot from our first title eliminator. We have the experience, we have the resources and we have the right training and sparring partners to prepare for this fight,” Junco said in an interview with Cebu Daily News Digital.
Junco is confident that his 25-year-old boxer, who only has one loss, is going to win this bout on foreign soil.
“I’ve never been this confident about my boxer. I strongly believe that we have higher chances of winning this fight,” Junco said.
“We need to stay calm and alert. We have to be ready for any given situation for this fight. He may have the hometown advantage, but we will do our best to outsmart him. Our main weapon for this fight is our boxing IQ.”
