Patrice Motsepe’s chances of leading African football have been boosted following the withdrawal of Senegalese Augustin Senghor and Ivorian Jacques Anouma from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) presidential race.
The duo have since thrown their weight behind the South African billionaire and Mamelodi Sundowns president.
Both Senghor and Anouma withdrew their candidacy on Friday leaving Motsepe and Ahmed Yahya from Mauritania as the two candidates vying for the top position in African football. It is expected that Yahya is also going to withdraw from the race leaving Motsepe as the only candidate.
The CAF elections are going to be held in Rabat, Morocco, on Friday next week.
