World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver featherweight champion Lerato ‘Lights Out’ Dlamini is no longer fighting against Tanzanian boxer Iddi Kayumba whose birth name is Iddi Mustafa Ally Said.
Dlamini will now face unbeaten Hassan Milanzi from Zimbabwe in a 10 rounder at the Boardwalk Hotel and Casino in Gqeberha on Saturday, 24 April.
Initially, the plan was for Dlamini to clash against Toto Helebe from Cape Town, but Boxing South Africa (BSA) rejected the fight on the grounds that Helebe hadn’t renewed his licence.
Dlamini’s fight against Milanzi is on the undercard of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight elimination bout between Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga and Filipino boxer Christian ‘The Bomb’ Araneta in a Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP) tournament.
Dlamini’s trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan is unavailable for this fight and Bernie Pailman is going to be in his corner.
Nathan is going to be away in the United Kingdom with IBF flyweight champion Moruti ‘Babyface’ Mthalane, who is set to make his fourth defence of his belt against Sunny Edwards from the UK on Friday, 30 April.
This is Dlamini’s first fight since his stoppage win over Jeremiah Mhere from Zimbabwe in East London in March 2020 while Gweru-born Milanzi last fought in 2019.
