The South African Football Association (SAFA)  has dismissed new Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos’ revelations that former senior national team mentor Molefi Ntseki is his second assistant.
Broos revealed during an interview with SAfm Sport On programme on Friday evening that Ntseki is his assistant together with Cedomir Janevski from Belgium.
Ntseki was fired as Bafana Bafana coach after he failed to qualify for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon.
“My local assistant coach is the former Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki. I have met with him twice already and the man is an encyclopedia. He knows all the players here and he’s happy to be assistant again. That’s good to me,” Broos told Sport On.
SAFA dismissed this on Friday evening saying that its national executive committee (NEC) is yet to appoint a local assistant coach.
“Contrary to widespread news, SAFA would like to clarify to all football fans that the association has NOT appointed any local assistant coach to Bafana Bafana. The name making headlines is not the association’s position. The SAFA NEC will appoint a local assistant coach soon,” SAFA said.
