Award-winning boxing trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan remains in high spirits despite being holed up in a Russian hospital.
The Hot Box Gym chief trainer landed in hospital after he tested positive for COVID-19 before his boxer Ryno Liebenberg lost to Russian Fedor Chudinov in St Petersburg, Russia, earlier this month.
“My sinus infection is completely drained. Getting there, should be released hopefully on Monday,” Cape Town-born Nathan said on Friday.
Nathan tested positive for COVID-19 two days before Liebenberg’s fight against Chudinov. A second test came back negative raising his hopes of being in Liebenberg’s corner.
However, a third test returned positive on the day of the fight something, which forced Russian health authorities to dispatch doctors and paramedics to his hotel. This was done in line with Russian health protocols.
Initially, it was thought that the Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP) international adviser would spend 10 days in isolation, but it has since been three weeks now.
