Chippa United chairman Siviwe ‘Chippa’ Mpengesi has thanked the people of the Eastern Cape after the Chilli Boys retained their DStv Premiership status.
The Chilli Boys played in the PSL promotion/relegation play-offs after they finished 15th in the DStv Premiership last season.
“We have made it and retained our elite league status. We would like to take this moment to thank the people of the Eastern Cape for their continuous support. We were nothing without you in this journey,” Mpengesi said.
The Chilli Boys beat Richards Bay FC 2-1 in their opening promotion/relegation game at home and drew 1-1 in the return match.
The Gqeberha-based club had two walkovers after Royal AM failed to honour matches both home and away.
Meanwhile, Chilli Boys coach Lehlohonolo Seema is leaving the Eastern Cape club to join Lamontville Golden Arrows.
