Chippa United have turned their backs on Mdantsane’s Sisa Dukashe Stadium, a venue they have been using as their second home ground since the 2016/17 season.
The Chilli Boys have decided to return to the Buffalo City Stadium in East London.
This was announced by Siviwe ‘Chippa’ Mpengesi, chairman of the Gqeberha-based club.
“We are going to play seven games in East London. We will play all these matches at the Buffalo City Stadium. This is the stadium that is managed by Chippa Holdings. We will then play the rest of the matches in Gqeberha,” Mpengesi confirmed.
The Buffalo City Stadium is the first venue the Chilli Boys used when they started playing some of their home matches in East London during the 2015/16 season.
Mpengesi’s Chippa Holdings signed a 20-year lease with the Buffalo City Metro (BCM) in March this year.
The lease agreement stipulated that Chippa Holdings would renovate the two adjacent stadiums – Buffalo City and Jan Smuts. And this is where it was also agreed that the Chippa Training Academy would be housed.
