Prince Dlomo wants to continue with his good run against opponents from the Eastern Cape.
The current South African junior-welterweight champion has already had the better of two Eastern Cape boxers. He stopped Xolisani ‘Nomeva’ Ndongeni last October and outpointed Xolani ‘Tiger’ Mcotheli in March this year.
And he now wants to add Siseko Makeleni to a list of his victims. Dlomo defends his belt against Makeleni at the Booysens Boxing Gym in Johannesburg on Sunday, 26 September.
“I don’t know him, I only hear about him. I want to finish all the Eastern Cape boxers in this division,” Dlomo quipped.
Despite admitting that he does not know Makeleni, Dlomo respects his opponent from Mthatha.
“I respect him. However, I’m determined to win this fight. That he chose to fight with me forces me to push very hard. If he wants to win, then he will have to push harder,” Dlomo said.
Dlomo, who is from Pietermaritzburg, is not shy to predict that the fight won’t go the full distance.
“We will finish the 12 rounds if he pushes harder. But the way I see it, this fight won’t go through to the 12th round,” Dlomo said.
This is going to be Dlomo’s first defence of the title he won after he dethroned Mcotheli in March.
