Weeks of lobbying have finally borne fruits and brought some good news to Lerato ‘Lights Out’ Dlamini.

The boxer’s trainer and head of MTK Africa Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan has been working around the clock trying to secure an elimination bout for Dlamini.

And those efforts have resulted in the World Boxing Council (WBC) ordering Dlamini to fight against Eduardo Ramirez in a final featherweight eliminator. Ramirez is a 28-year-old boxer from Mexico.

“I’ve been working on this for a few weeks. I have been driving, writing and lobbying the WBC to give Dlamini a chance to fight in an elimination bout,” Nathan said.

“He was number one, dropped to number three and then number four. I told them that they had no excuse not to give Dlamini an elimination bout because he’s been active.”

Nathan is obviously happy with the latest developments regarding Welkom-born Dlamini’s boxing career.

“I’m glad that everything has started to come together. Obviously, people know that I’ve got an influence in some of the sanctioning bodies. They will now start looking at the WBC,” Nathan said.

“Dlamini deserves a shot and is happy about it. I told him last week that he was going to get an order from the WBC. This was after l got a heads up from one of my sources. I’m very excited, l’m very happy.”

The 27-year-old Dlamini last fought when he defeated Zimbabwean boxer Hassan Milanzi in Gqeberha in April this year.
