Banyana Banyana continued with their dominance over Malawi as they beat them 2-1 in a COSAFA Women’s Championship match at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on Tuesday. 

Banyana Banyana have now beaten the Malawians in the last four matches between the two sides. 

Banyana Banyana survived a scare when their captain Janine van Wyk collided with Fazila Chembezeko in the first minute. After being attended to by medical personnel, Van Wyk dusted herself up and continued with the match. 

Banyana Banyana raced to an early lead when Melinda Kgadiete beat Malawi goalkeeper Samir Amidu in the third minute. Kgadiete pounced on Kaylin Swart’s long range clearance. 

Banyana Banyana increased the lead in the 37th minute through Noxolo Cesane’s goal. Cesane capitalised on Chimwewe Madise’s blunder and put the ball in the back of the net for Banyana Banyana’s 17th goal against Malawi. 

Wezzie Mvula pulled one back for the Malawians in the 89th minute.
