Tanzania reached the final of the COSAFA Women’s Championship for the first time after they beat Zambia 3-2 on penalties at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on Thursday afternoon. 

The match went straight to penalties after the two sides drew 1-1 in 90 minutes. Both goals were scored by the Zambians. 

The Tanzanians took the lead when Lushomo Mweemba scored an own goal in the 16th minute. The Zambians equalised through Grace Chanda’s wonderful strike in the 69th minute. 

Meanwhile, Tanzania converted three penalties and missed once while the Zambians scored twice and failed in three penalty attempts.
