A report from the Social Justice and Nation-building hearings chaired by Advocate Dumisa Ntsebeza has revealed that Enoch Nkwe was discriminated against during the appointment of the Proteas coach.

The report also said that the appointments of Cricket South Africa (CSA) director of cricket Graeme Smith and Proteas coach Mark Voucher were procedurally flawed.

Smith was appointed as acting CSA director of cricket by the organisation’s former chief executive officer Thabang More in December 2019. He was appointed permanently in April the following year.

The report added that Smith didn’t follow CSA policy when he appointed Boucher as Proteas coach. Boucher was appointed even though no interviews were held and he also didn’t possess a Level 4 qualification required for the position.

The report went on to say that it was not clear why Boucher got appointed ahead of Nkwe, who has a Level 4 coaching certificate. The report ruled that Nkwe was discriminated against in the appointment process.
