Failure to obtain Mexican visas last week delayed Thabiso Mchunu and his team’s departure for Mexico this past weekend.

However, there are some good news as the Mexican visas have finally been secured with Wednesday being set as a day of departure.

Mchunu challenges World Boxing Council (WBC) cruiserweight champion Ilunga Makabu at the Packard Music Hall in Warren, Ohio, United States, on Saturday, 29 January (Sunday, 30 January South African time).

“We are leaving for Mexico on Wednesday. We will be there until Friday, 21 January,” Mchunu’s trainer Sean Smith confirmed.

Meanwhile, former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) welterweight title holder Thulani ‘Evolution’ Mbenge is in the travelling party as he’s Mchunu’s sparring partner.
