The Proteas cruised to a 31-run victory over India in the first one day international (ODI) at Boland Park in Paarl on Wednesday evening.
Proteas captain Temba Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen were in fine form with the bat. Bavuma Knocked 110 off 143 balls while Van der Dussen was unbeaten on 129 after facing 96 balls.
The Proteas scored 296 runs for four wickets in their alloted 50 overs while India knocked 265 for eight in 50 overs with Shikhar Dhawan top scoring with 79 runs from 84 balls and Virat Kohli hittlng 51 off 63.
Meanwhile, the second ODI is going to be played at the same Paarl venue on Friday with the third and final match set for Newlands on Sunday.
