The International Cricket Council (ICC) has suspended Proteas batsman Zubayr Hamza for nine months from all cricket-related activities.

This comes after traces of a prohibited substance Furosemide were found in Hamza’s urine sample. Hamza even admitted to an anti-doping rule violation under the ICC Anti-Doping Code.

The 26-year-old Cape Town-born Hamza will only be eligible to return to cricket on 22 December 2022.

Meanwhile, all of Hamza’s individual performances between 17 January and 22 March 2022 have been disqualified.
