Two-time South African champion Xolisani ‘Nomeva’ Ndongeni has a date with Apinun Khongsong from Thailand in Durban next month.

KwaBhaca-born Ndongeni, an erstwhile International Boxing Organisation (IBO) lightweight king, faces Khongsong on Thursday, 17 November.

The former SA junior-lightweight and lightweight titlist, who is based in Johannesburg, will be fighting for the second time this year. He dominated Filipino boxer Reymond Yanong in Sandton, Johannesburg, three months ago.

Meanwhile, Khongsong’s last 12 fights ended in knockouts with him winning 10 and losing two of those.

Khongsong, who failed to dethrone former World Boxing Association (WBA) ‘Super’ and International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-welterweight champion Josh Taylor from Scotland when he challenged him in September 2020, last went the distance during his win over Filipino opponent Adam Diu Abdulhamid in August 2017.

The 26-year-old Bangkok resident has stopped 17 of his 20 victims and has lost twice in his professional career.
