Having made an impressive start as a featherweight by stopping Mark Anthony Geraldo from the Philippines, Ludumo ‘9MM’ Lamati will change focus as he wants to cement his name in a new division.

Geraldo came to the fight highly recommended and it was expected that he was going to offer some resistance against Lamati at The Globe, Sun Coast Casino, in Durban on Thursday evening. But it was never to be as the 30-year-old Lamati finished him off with a body shot, which sent him to the canvas in the fourth round.

“I feel really great, I appreciate. I needed to put more weight. I needed to be comfortable. I needed to be happy,” Johannesburg-based Lamati said.

Lamati, who is trained by former South African bantamweight champion Phumzile Matyhila, is now focusing on 2023 now that he stopped Geraldo.

“I’ve got a good team. I can’t wait for the next year,” the former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) and SA junior-featherweight champion said.
