Cape Town City left it until late as they defeated Royal AM 2-1 in a DStv Premiership encounter at the Cape Town Stadium on Friday evening. 

Playing for the first time for the Citizens, Bertrand Mani from Cameroon broke the deadlock as he gave the Cape side the lead in the 37th minute. 

Seven minutes later, Ruzaigh Gamildien, formerly with Swallows FC and Chippa United, equalised for Thwihli Thwahla to make it 1-1 at half-time. 

Substotute Thabo Nodada scored the Citizens’ winning goal after he received a cross from Mduduzi Mdantsane in referee’s added time. 

Meanwhile, Stellenbosch FC and Chippa United drew 1-1 at the Danie Craven Stadium in the Cape Winelands.

Junior Mendieta gave the lead from the penalty spot in the 50th minute and Azola Matrose equalised for the Chilli Boys 12 minutes later.
