This could be Ayanda Ndulani’s year, especially now that he is due to fight in a World Boxing Council (WBC) minimumweight elimination bout against Mexican Luis Castillo.

In November last year, the WBC ordered Ndulani and the unbeaten Mexican southpaw to clash in an elimination bout. Ndulani, who is the reigning International Boxing Organisation (IBO) minimumweight champion, is rated number one in the current WBC ratings while Castillo is three places below him.

The winner of this proposed bout between Ndulani, who is trained by Kholisile ‘KC’ Cengani, and Castillo will become a mandatory challenger to reigning WBC minimumweight champion Panya Pradabsri from Bangkok, Thailand.

Meanwhile, Ndulani from Scenery Park in East London comes from two back-to-back wins over Siphamandla Baleni in his IBO title defence.
