Alexandra-born South African middleweight champion John ‘Section 29’ Bopape didn’t sweat even a bit when he defeated Ayanda Mthembu at the Dongala La Boutique Hotel in Ladysmith on Sunday afternoon.

Bopape stopped Mthembu from KwaZulu-Natal in the first round to make a successful second defence of the national crown he won after he stopped Nkululeko Mhlongo in the 11th round in Bloemfontein last April.

The 31-year-old Bopape then went on to stop another KwaZulu-Natal boxer Snamiso Ntuli in his first defence of the title at the Dlamini Hall in Soweto in July last year.

Meanwhile, Malawian boxer George Kandulo stopped Siphelele Myeza in the seventh round of the main supporting bout.
