Needing nothing less than a win, Chippa United were beaten 1-0 by Kaizer Chiefs in a DStv Premiership encounter at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on Thursday afternoon.
Seeing that Chilli Boys goalkeeper Loydt Kazapua was off his line, Ashley du Preez sent a curler into the far post to score the only goal of the match in the 72nd minute. This was the former Stellenbosch FC forward’s sixth goal of the season.
This loss has put the Chilli Boys in a precarious position as they remain in 15th spot having collected 26 points from 27 games while Amakhosi have 44 points in 27 matches.
