Swallows FC flew from 13th spot on the log to eighth position on the DStv Premiership table after they beat Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Durban on Monday afternoon.

The Dube Birds scored first through Gregory Damons in the seventh minute. Initially, Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune saved Damons’ only for the former Chippa United player to score from a rebound.

Chiefs forward Christian Saile Basamboli gave Amakhosi some hope after he equalised in the 23rd minute. However, the Dube Birds were not done yet as Bongani Sam restored their lead in the 33rd minute after he headed past Khune. 

The Dube Birds, who are left with two games before they wrap up their season, have now collected 34 points from 28 matches.
