Japan registered their first ever win over Spain in style as they humbled the Spaniards 4-0 in a 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Group C match at the Wellington Regional Stadium in New Zealand on Monday. 

Hinata Miyazawa netted a brace with the other goals coming from Riko Uleki and Mina Tanaka to set up a last-16 match against Norway. The Spaniards are going to play against Switzerland in the next round. 

Meanwhile, Zambia’s Copper Queens scored their first World Cup win after they beat Costa Rica 3-1 in a Group C at the Waikato Stadium. 

Zambia’s goals came from Lushomo Mweemba, Barbra Banda and Racheal Kundananji while Melissa Herrera netted for the Central Americans.
