A proper hiding he inflicted on Bangile Nyangani during their South African minimumweight title fight has ensured that Siyakholwa Kuse forced his way into the top 15 ratings of the World Boxing Council (WBC).

Kuse, the current SA minimumweight champion, is rated 13th by the WBC – just one place above Mthatha-born Nyangani whom he soundly defeated at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) earlier this month.

Mdantsane’s Kuse is one of the four South African boxers rated in the top 15 by the WBC. Erstwhile SA minimumweight and junior-flyweight champion Siphamandla Baleni is rated ninth with former SA and International Boxing Organisation (IBO) minimumweight titlist Simphiwe Konkco two places below him and Nyangani in 14th spot.

The WBC minimumweight title is held by Thai boxer Panya Pradabsri also known as Petchmanee CP Freshmart. The 32-year-old Pradabsri has defended the title four times since he dethroned former champion and Thai compatriot Chayaphon Moonsri in November 2020.
