Erling Halaand started off where he left off last term, scoring twice as English Premier League champions Manchester City walloped Burnley 3-0 in a season opener at Turf Moor on Friday evening.

Halaand made his intentions clear as early as the fourth minute when he beat Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford to give the Citizens the lead after a move from Rodrigo. 

The Norwegian mean machine doubled the Citizens’ lead after he received a from Julian Alvarez in the 36th minute. And Rodrigo made it 3-0 in the 75th minute. 

The newly-promoted Burnely finished the match with 10 players after Anass Zaroury was red carded following a foul on Kyle Walker.
