Sweden beat Japan 2-1 in a 2023 FIFA World Cup quarter-final encounter at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand, on Friday. 

The Swedes took the lead in the 32nd minute through Amanda Ilestedt, who scored her fourth goal of the tournament. Fillipa Angedal doubled the Swedes’ lead in the 51st minute. 

The Japanese pulled one back through Honoka Hayashi just as the match referee was preparing to end the proceedings.
