England will play against co-hosts Australia in the semi-finals of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup at Stadium Australia in Sydney on Wednesday next week.

This came after the English came from behind to beat Colombia 2-1 in a quarter-final clash at Stadium Australia on Saturday.

A superb strike by Leicy Santos beat England goalkeeper Mary Earps and sailed into the back of the net to give Colombia the lead in the 44th minute.

England didn’t give up after the Colombians took the lead and the English finally scored through Lauren Hemp after threatening for some time. Hemp captalised after Colombia goalminder Catalina Perez failed to hold on to the ball.

Another defensive error by the Colombians resulted in Alessia Russo shooting England to the lead in the 63rd minute.
