Struggling Cape Town Spurs finally acted and fired their coach Shaun Bartlett on Monday morning following a spate of poor performances.

The Urban Warriors, who have lost all their seven matches, are stone last on the DStv Premiership standings.

“Following an extensive review and discussions with Shaun Bartlett and taking into consideration the current set of results- we have mutually agreed to the termination of the head coach’s contract with immediate effect. We recognise this is not an easy decision for all parties, but it has been taken with the club’s long-term interest at heart. Everyone at Cape Town Spurs wishes Shaun Bartlett all the best in his future coaching career,” a Spurs statement said.

The statement added that Urban Warriors chief executive officer Alexi Efstathiou and the club’s technical director Sean Connor have already begun restructuring the coaching set up at the club with a shortlist of candidates having been identified.
