The late Dingaan ‘The Rose of Soweto’ Thobela’s memorial service is scheduled to take place at Arena Holdings in Parktown, Johannesburg, at 11am on Tuesday.
Thobela’s funeral service is going to be held at the Dlamini Multi Purpose Hall in Soweto from 8am until 11 on Thursday. And he will be laid to rest at Westpark Cemetery in Randburg.
The erstwhile SA junior-lightweight champion’s lifeless body was found at his flat in Langlaagte, Johannesburg, on Monday last week. Thobela, who was born in Chiawelo, Soweto, was 57 years old.
Apart from being a former SA titlist, Thobela also won the World Boxing Council (WBC) super-middleweight, World Boxing Association (WBA) and World Boxing Organisation (WBO) lightweight champion.
