In a battle between two undefeated boxers, South African champion Asemahle ‘Predator’ Wellem exchanges blows with Russian Denis Savitsky in a 10 rounds bout in Chelyabinsk, Russia, on Saturday.

Wellem, the reigning SA super-middleweight titlist, left South Africa for the ice-cold Russia this week hoping his unbeaten run would continue.

With a record of seven wins, three stoppages and a draw, Wellem will be seeking a win in his first visit to Russia. On the other hand, Savitsky, who is a resident of Irkutsk, has won nine fights, six of those victories came from knockouts, and a draw.

“So far, everything is going well. I’m meeting my opponent for the first time on Friday,” Chintsa-born Wellem said.

This is going to be Wellem’s first fight since he drew with Tanzanian Selemani ‘Mamba’ Kadunda in Tanzania two months ago while Savitsky last fought when he defeated his Russian compatriot Sergei Ekimov in February this year. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
